We will be able to fight for guaranteed year-round health insurance, with no gaps in healthcare coverage during the summer or during medical leaves of absence.
What have other graduate employees won with a union?
Dental and vision. Contracts at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and University of Michigan provide dental and vision insurance with no premium.
Mental health care. Grad workers at University of Iowa won mental health services with no copay.
Benefits for families. The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign contract guarantees childcare subsidies, and grad workers at University of Rhode Island receive six weeks’ paid parental leave.
